Going around shops, I couldn't seem to find one that I like despite the variety of choices. So, I decided to go DIY with it, well, semi-DYI. I'm not a gifted person in sewing. I can design, measure, cut, and pin...but that's as far as I would go.
With Scout coming out any time soon, I'm starting to feel the pressure of going through our checklist to see if we're still missing something. As I was packing Scout's hospital bag, I realized that he only has one hooded towel (thanks to Auntie Cindie).

(image from wonderhowto.com) I'm not a bag fan, but I'm a sucker for interesting DIY projects. When I saw this, it was like I wanted to throw a Hermes-inspired party! Who wouldn't? I may be 4 years late since the campaign started, but hey, it still looks like a good project to have. We got this candelabra as a wedding gift. Never got to display it until today for a much-awaited makeover. Not that I was being lazy about it, it's just it took a while to find the design and materials that I needed for it. It's like the Star Wars movie - George Lucas had to wait for the technology to develop before he was able to do the prequels to the legendary movie. A's not much of a special holiday person. So since we got married, we don't do anything much for the Chinese New Year. The closest activity that I could recall was last year when we had to roll 17 pieces of kiat kiat from our main door. Snuz had to participate of course since we could enter our home one at a time in a specific order. This is year, along with the new slate movement that we've been going through the past few weeks, is different. Since I'm been bitten by the Holiday lazy bug, I'm been getting lazy of doing the task of cleaning our ionizer every 2 days. So I've decided to use a reed diffuser instead. I've been trying to look for one for weeks and they don't usually come cheap. Well, most cheap ones tend to lose their scent at a faster rate. The one that I did like was in Rockwell, but it costs Php2,400...and that's just for one unit! Our living room wall has been naked for years. I don't know what to do with it. Was thinking of placing a framed picture of a leaf or something similarly simple, but never really got myself working on it. I was looking at charger plates in Megamall one time for no reason. I came across these banana leaf-inspired melaware that looked interesting - nice color and texture, plus it only costs Php72 for the big plate and Php32 for the smaller ones. I thought of using it to decorate our wall. With my trusted 3M Command poster strips, (holds on strongly, comes off cleanly =P) I've attached them at the bottom of the plates and mounted them on the wall. Not bad for the price and easily to clean. Nice complement to our other living room wall too. Since that only took a few minutes to make, I decided to tackle on the other walls of our abode and turned my eye to the bathroom. We have an excess wallpaper from the mural in the living room, I've had one mounted on the entrance of our bathroom. To continue the mural theme in the bathroom, I decided to make a faux window using the remaining excess wallpaper, some A4 clear casing (Php28.25 each at National Bookstore), and poster strips (of course). Just cut the wallpaper to fit inside the clear casing (the clear casing itself has a paper that serves as a label. you can use that as a cutting template on the wallpaper). Place poster strips at the backside of the clear casing. Attach the "framed" wallpaper to the wall. The best thing about this is that if I get tired of the wallpaper photo, I can just change it to another one =)
