DIY: Caterham F1 Hooded Towel

With Scout coming out any time soon, I'm starting to feel the pressure of going through our checklist to see if we're still missing something. As I was packing Scout's hospital bag, I realized that he only has one hooded towel (thanks to Auntie Cindie).

Going around shops, I couldn't seem to find one that I like despite the variety of choices. So, I decided to go DIY with it, well, semi-DYI. I'm not a gifted person in sewing. I can design, measure, cut, and pin...but that's as far as I would go.
After looking at different sewing sites for templates that are easy to follow for someone like me, I ended up with this one:

Now that I have a template, it's time to design the hooded towel. Cars and sports are two of my top-of-mind ideas for a boy-themed anything. I could've easily gone for the color blue, but that's the color of our bedroom + nursery already. I decided to go green on this one.

Armed with a mission to search for something that has cars, sports, and green in it, I ended up with F1 racing (cars and sports...check!). Browsing through the list of F1 teams, I stumbled on Caterham F1 Team. I remember being attracted to emerald green as a car color. The Caterham F1 logo had me at "hello".

Next on my to-do list is to look for a towel with the same green shade. I ended up finding one in SM Makati. As for the white and yellow portions of the logo, I got some bias tape from Carolina's Lace Shoppe.

Going back to the DIY hooded towel instructions from Momtastic, I started assembling Scout's very own version.

I did mention that I barely have sewing skills. I went to Alterations Plus in Rockwell for the service. They charged me Php 650 for just the sewing services. I think it's about time that I start working on having my own set of sewing skills.

I'll be able to retrieve the towel this week. Will post the finished product when i
