So This Is A Spa Party

Well, it's not a surprise spa party for me (or for anyone else). It's more of the experience that I've had from attending one. I do not consider myself as a social butterfly (talkative as I am). I try to limit my social interaction to office colleagues within the workplace. Those whom I have worked with could attest to that. I'm barely present during parties except for times when: (1) I'm the assigned organizer, (2) it's a wedding or baptismal - too special moments for the ones sending in the invites and, (3) I just wanted to go for whatever reasons I have for that day.

Two things that I haven't tried would be a spa party and having a home massage service. Today, I got to do both at a colleague's place that was organized by another colleague.

I wasn't expecting any benefit from it. Just go there and be done with it. Apparently, I was the first guest to come in, which was a bit awkward. The spa people just arrived as well and were starting to set up. So, I was giving myself a tour of the living room by disturbing the afternoon peace of:

Turtle 1 and Turtle 2 (yes, those are their names)

When the crew was finished setting up, this is how it looked like:

guests were greeted by Crocs slippers at the main door                                                                    (I wasn't since I got there before the spa crew started setting up)

then we went through a path of rose petals (would've been more enjoyable if we were being bowed at as they were laying the petals  as we walked through them)...

...that leads to the spa area (carpet, stools, buckets, and robes provided by the spa)

of course I made my way for the cheese platter at the dining room (food not included in the spa package) ...

While the rest went for massages and/or pedicure, I just had the special foot spa (foot spa + massage). Not really a fan of massage, but I did like the one at Chi Spa (but that's another story).

I was close to bored during the whole party except for the part wherein I watch all the other ladies get the same shade of nail polish. They tried to get me to do it, but failed.. Things changed when we were all at the dinner table. I guess when things get personal and I started to get to know each of them beyond professional level, it made me appreciate each of them more. Come to think of it, I (and A) were the only non-lawyers there. Not that it even mattered to begin with.

There were a lot of firsts for me that day and it's a good thing that I decided to come.

Now for thos who would like to have a spa party, might be a good idea to try it out for yourself.
