A few days back, a friend posted this on her Facebook wall:
I haven't been paying attention to news much lately and seeing this photo made me realize how bad the situation is.
Yesterday morning before leaving for work, I saw our reception lobby put up this big box as a campaign to help those who were affected by Typhoons Peping and Quiel. This is one of the things that I like about our condo community here. I've seen how the residents poured their support to those stricken by Ondoy a couple of years back. I remember making a comment to myself that the items gathered there are types that high-end ukay-ukays would display. Then again, they're just branded items. People who gave them away can afford to buy those again. It's more important to help those who would find them more useful at this point in their lives.
Anyway, this morning, I started to clean our closet. After rummaging through most of our things (I have yet to check with A as far as his belongings are concerned), we came up with a few bags of clothes and bags. I carried what I can to the lobby and ended up seeing 3 big boxes full of a variety of goods. One even gave a sack of rice.
The guard has advised me that goods will be picked up on Tuesday. So, that still gives us a little more time to give what we can.
It's times like this that it's good to see people helping each other out.
