Gratitudes: Scout's Fifth

It was quite a big day for Scout today: we had a little bigger monthly celebration for him and it's his first day to move into solid food. We had a family lunch, and by that I mean just the three of us, at Lugang Café to have birthday noodles.

We've had their birthday noodles before. I think it was during Scout's 2nd month, if memory serves me right. Today, we tried their Garlic Pork Roll (left) and Pork Wanton in Spicy Chili Oil (right)

At first, I thought that the pork roll was wrapped in an egg wrapper. Apparently, it's a thinly sliced pork that serves as the wrapper itself. I didn't like the fat portion of it both for the taste and texture, but the rest it actually good. Quite a new taste for my palate.

Part 2 of our celebration was dinner with my colleagues who celebrated it with us, since Scout's fifth month fell on a weekend, by having a potluck. My Malaysian-Chinese-Australian colleague, who's been one of Scout's supporters long before he came about, hosted the dinner and made authentic Laksa and some form of humba (well, the host couldn't give me a name for it, but that's the closest dish that I could think of). We brought some of the birthday noodles and two of my favorite cakes, Black Velvet and Chocolate Mousse from Mary Grace.

They love the chocolate mousse more, which is good since I wanted the Black Velvet for myself (which didn't happen, of course, but I didn't mind).

It was a fun day for the three of us and I'm really grateful for having colleagues like mine for celebrating the event with us.
