It's been raining for 2 weeks and water is just everywhere! But today, Metro Manila is just surrounded with flood water. Dams have opened their gates to release excess water. Everything's fine from where we are, no flood, but I couldn't say the same to a lot of people in the metro today. From where we are, this is how the rains are pouring: Today's heavy rains due to Typhoon Haikui have flooded half of Metro Manila, with almost 10% without electricity for safety reasons. Since I got back from work this afternoon, TV news have included certain areas having floodwater reaching up to 20ft! (image from inquirer.net) Being exposed to flood water alone is very dangerous. We can get disease and infections from them as indicated in this poster: (image from Ang Nars National Facebook Page) PAG-ASA has released Floor Safety Rules that will help guide us as we go through another heavy rain trial. To some, staying home and keeping safe is no longer applicable because of flood water reaching their homes on critical levels.
