AIS Mum: My best mummy helper finds to date

Before becoming a parent, I've heard of stories about parents buying things for their young ones, but weren't able to use because the babies don't want to use it. Talk about "no means no." When people have started asking me what else Scout needs, I have an idea what they are, but haven't gotten around buying them yet...well, the big, expensive ones, at least. I didn't want to end up buying something fairly expensive that Scout wouldn't end up using. I didn't mind using hand-me downs as well.
Scout had an opportunity to have a work dad, now unofficial godfather. He made sure that we got to and from work safely.  I caught him doing some online shopping one time for a stroller and car seat. I had to stop him there since he was looking for brand new ones. He insisted on getting one for Scout. So, we had a compromise...he can buy them for the boy, but just second hand ones since I'm not sure if Scout would like to use. I was given the privilege to choose the item and he paid for it. I ended up choosing this one:

We got it from a couple who came from the US. The items were bought from there and was only used by their baby for around 3 months. They said the baby gets fidgety when placed in it...all the more I was convinced not to get a brand new one! We got the set for Php6,000 (technically, it's free on our end since it's a gift).

The system consists of two items: Peg Perego VIP 30/30 car seat and a Maclaren Easy Traveller Stroller Frame.

One major thing that I like about Peg Perego system is that we didn't have to buy a separate carseat. At least, not for a few more months when Scout outgrows this one.

Scout didn't like to use it at first. He started not minding being in it when he was two months old. We started using it with the stroller frame when he reached three months.

Now, here's my most favorite find...a Mothercare Moses basket with rocker frame!

This one is a really good find. A brand new set would cost between Php7,000 - 8,000. We got it for just Php1,500.  The new parents got it as a gift from a relative in the UK, but like the carseat + stroller system, their baby didn't want to use it.

I've been looking at this one while I was pregnant, but the price tag, plus, contemplating on getting a pack n' play instead was keeping me from buying a brand new one. I was actually looking at these ones:

But, these are way more expensive than a basic moses basket. The one of the left wasn't even available here in Manila during the time that I was pregnant. I don't think the one on the right is even available here in country. So, for the price that we got from the seller, I didn't have second thoughts on buying it.

The rocker stand is really a big help in getting Scout to sleep. We didn't have to spend a very long time carrying him and trying to rock him to sleep since we got this one.

He's outgrowing the Moses basket though. So, I'm starting to be on a look out for pack n' play options.
